On the afternoon of November 26th, the second "Morning Star" Science Fiction Literature Award and the first "Morning Star" Science Fiction Art Award, jointly organized by China's first science fiction public welfare fund - Shenzhen Science & Fantasy Growth Foundation, Nanshan District Science and Technology Association of Shenzhen, and Futian District Cultural and Sports Bureau of Shenzhen, were held in Shenzhen.
The award ceremony, themed "The Legend of 'Star' Fire," reviewed the development of science fiction creation and industry in China during the award ceremony. Yu Zhisheng, Deputy Secretary of the Futian District Committee and Director of the Social Work Committee of Shenzhen, and Zhang Hanguo, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nanshan Association for Science and Technology, attended the award ceremony.
This year's two "Morning Star" science fiction awards have further expanded the scale of the competition, increased the prize money and total funding, while maintaining their public welfare nature and continuing to fund unfinished long science fiction works. All 16 awards awarded a total of 305000 yuan in prize money and 80000 yuan in funding, which has more than doubled the scale and total amount of prize money compared to last year.

This year's "Morning Star" Science Fiction Literature Award received 462 submissions from over 300 authors nationwide, totaling over 10 million words, including 47 unfinished novels. The two newly added awards of Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay this year have received a total of 46 submitted script works, which fully reflects the interest and attention of science fiction authors in China's science fiction film and television creation.
After evaluation by a panel of renowned science fiction writers and online voting, Tan Gang's "Three Days and Moon," Wu Fugang's "Love Towards the End of the World," "Foolish God," and Carnation's "Kun" won the four major awards for Best Novel, Best Short Story, Best Micro Science Fiction, and Best Original Science Fiction Script, respectively. The awards for Best Medium length Novel and Best Adapted Science Fiction Script were vacant. Li Yipeng's "Perfect Era" won the Future Star Award, and the Science Fiction Association of Southern University of Science and Technology was awarded the Special Contribution Award. Grey Fox's "Solid Ocean" has received recognition from the literary supervisor of the Science & Fantasy Growth Foundation and renowned science fiction writer Wang Jinkang, becoming the winner of this year's "Jinkang Award". Dong Renwei, one of the founders of the World Chinese Science Fiction Association, and renowned science fiction writers Wang Jinkang, Han Song, Xia Jia, Jiang Bo, and other guests presented trophies and award certificates to the award-winning authors.
The close cooperation with the industry has always been one of the prominent features of the "Morning Star" Science Fiction Literature Award, and it is also a reflection of the "growth oriented" thinking of the Science & Fantasy Growth Foundation for the development of China's science fiction industry. This competition has established two special awards, the "Micro Image Discovery Award" and the "Lazy Listening to Books Audio Novel Award", funded by Micro Image Culture and Lazy Listening to Books respectively. The awards are specifically designed to discover and reward science fiction works that are suitable for adaptation into other types and have great market development potential. At the award ceremony, the initiator of the fund also announced a cooperation plan with BGI Genomics Blue Rainbow. The "Morning Star" Science Fiction Art Award, which was first selected this year, was funded by the Special Fund for the Development of Propaganda, Culture and Sports in Futian District, Shenzhen, and received strong support from universities such as Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, and Chengdu University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. The organizing committee received a total of 413 valid submissions, including 32 animation works, 343 single comic/illustration works, 23 picture books/comic works, and 15 new media works.
After being evaluated by professional judges and voted by netizens, Chen Ansheng's "Civilization Invasion Concept Design Series", Huang Junhao's "Explosion", Tang Kun's "Magic Valley", Zhang Wenlong's "Magic World", Chen Zanwei's studio's "Energy Conversion Series", and Deng Huang's "Space Time" won the Best Science Fiction Concept Design Gold Award, Best Single Science Fiction Comic, Best Science Fiction Illustration Design, Best Science Fiction Poster Design, Best Digital Special Effects Short Film, and Best Science Fiction Animation Short Film respectively. The "Civilization Invasion Concept Design Series" also won the Most Innovative Award of this year. At the same time, awards such as Excellent Guidance Teacher and Excellent Organizational Unit were presented on-site, as well as the Mercury Award established with the support of Hangzhou Mercury Culture. Awards such as Special Award, Best Creative Award, and Best Scene Award were also presented.

On the morning of the award ceremony, renowned science fiction writer Xia Jia, who won the Best Newcomer Award at the Galaxy Awards and was the first humanities student in China to appear in Nature magazine, renowned artist Shark Dan, who is a senior science fiction literature illustrator and multiple winners of the Galaxy Award at the Chinese Nebula Awards, and Xiao Zhuangyue, Chairman of Guangzhou XRCGschool and founder of XRCGteam, delivered three wonderful lectures to science fiction enthusiasts in Shenzhen.
They approached the audience from different perspectives, vividly and interestingly introducing the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese science fiction creation and the science fiction industry in a simple and understandable way, winning rounds of warm applause. Lin Jianqun, assistant professor at Zhili University of Science and Technology in Taiwan and judge of the Global Chinese Language Nebula Award, Dong Renwei, one of the founders of the World Chinese Science Fiction Association, and Taiwanese science fiction writer Li Ziqing, specially invited by the Science & Fantasy Growth Foundation, also took this opportunity to exchange and discuss ideas and measures for jointly developing the Chinese language science fiction industry with friends and science fiction enthusiasts in mainland China.
At the event, Mr. Ma Guobin, one of the initiators of the Science & Fantasy Growth Foundation, stated that Chinese science fiction not only needs to "go out" and win more awards, but also needs to find ways to "invite in" others, so that science fiction professionals from other countries and regions can bring their experience in science fiction creation and the development of science fiction related industries to China.
