The first Morningstar·Jinkang Science Fiction Literature Award Ceremony came to a perfect conclusion

On December 12th, the first public welfare original science fiction literature award in China, the first "Morning Star · Jinkang" Science Fiction Literature Award Ceremony, was held grandly. Famous science fiction writer and 1997 International Science Fiction Conference "Galaxy Award" winner Wang Jinkang, Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government Zhu Tingfeng, Deputy Editor in Chief of "Science Fiction World" magazine Yao Haijun, famous science fiction writer Han Song, and the main representative writer of China's new generation of science fiction novels He Xi attended the ceremony. Liu Cixin, the author of the Best Long Story "The Three Body Problem" at the 73rd Hugo Awards, participated in the award ceremony through video.
The Morningstar Jinkang Science Fiction Literature Award is the first public welfare original science fiction literature award in China, and also the first literary competition in China to officially accept submissions of long works that have not yet been completed. The competition actually awarded a prize of RMB 74000 and provided a total of RMB 90000 in public welfare funding to several emerging science fiction authors to help them successfully complete their creations.
China's technological hub, stepping out of science fiction awards
This award ceremony is hosted by the Shenzhen SCIENCE & FANTASY GROWTH FOUNDATION and has received targeted funding from the Nanshan District Association for Science and Technology in Shenzhen. Lian Cong, Chairman of the Nanshan District Association for Science and Technology in Shenzhen, and Lv Chenggang, Chairman of the Shenzhen Social Welfare Foundation, attended the ceremony. Yu Zhisheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Futian District Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Party Group of the District Government, guest hosted the event as a senior science fiction fan.
As a key city and pioneer of scientific and technological innovation in China, Shenzhen has a large number of citizens and entrepreneurs who are passionate about science fiction culture. The competition has received strong support from various sectors of society and relevant government departments in Shenzhen. Representatives from more than ten related companies and institutions, including Tencent Interactive Entertainment, along with competition winners and invited science fiction professionals, had a dinner together to have in-depth discussions on issues such as the development of science fiction industrialization and the intersection of culture and technology. The science fiction author signings, science fiction book clubs, cross-border science fiction forums, and other related activities held simultaneously with the award ceremony have also attracted a lot of attention, further bringing science fiction closer to the public.
The "Morning Star · Jinkang" Science Fiction Literature Award is the first science fiction literature award in China named after a science fiction writer. Yao Haijun, Deputy Editor in Chief of Science Fiction World magazine, famous science fiction writer Han Song, and He Xi, the main representative writer of China's new generation of science fiction novels, attended the ceremony as guests.
This competition received 208 entries from over 150 authors from all over the country, totaling over 10 million words, including 46 unfinished long science fiction novels. The organizing committee has preliminarily evaluated 50 works and selected them for the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be evaluated by a judging committee composed of science fiction writers and senior science fiction readers, combined with online voting. In the end, "My Classmate Liu Dazhuang" without any awards, "Happy Elegy of a Failed Expert" by Yujin, and "Eternal Dream" by He Tao won the Best Micro Science Fiction, Best Short Story, and Best Medium length awards, respectively. Unfortunately, the Best Long Form award was announced as vacant. Xiao Xinghan's "Battle of the Singularity" won the special award "Jinkang Award" in the competition for its solid and rigorous science fiction elements and thrilling plot.
The themes of the entries in this competition are diverse and unconstrained. As one of the judges of the competition, Liu Cixin, said, these works have shown us the profound thinking of the new generation of science fiction authors on life and time, technology and the universe. Although there is still room for improvement in the literary level of some works, as long as we maintain curiosity about the unknown future and constantly hone our skills, we believe that China will definitely produce more excellent science fiction novels.

Next year, science fiction fans can look forward to a more mature and diverse "Morning Star Jinkang" award.
